Due to radiation, friction and other reasons, the air contains a small amount of free ions. It is impossible to fully charge the dust particles in the dust-containing air zone by relying solely on these free ions. A high-voltage electric field is set in the electrostatic precipitator. Under the action of the electric field, the free ions in the air will move to the two poles. The stronger the external electric field, the greater the electric field intensity, and the faster the movement of the ions. However, when the voltage rises to a certain value, the ions near the corona electrode obtain higher energy and speed. They collide with the neutral molecules in the air and the neutral molecules will be ionized into positive and negative ions. When the air around the corona electrode is completely ionized, a corona zone will be formed. When the dust-containing air enters the electrostatic precipitator, it obtains positive and negative charges. Since the corona zone of the corona electrode is small, most of the dust is deposited on the anode plate. The wet dust collector uses spray or overflow water to form a water film on the surface of the dust collecting electrode to wash away the dust particles deposited on the electrode plate.
